An SOV session follows a practical, flexible structure:
Select a learning unit that fits the family’s current priorities.Watch a short educational video with the caregiver.Use guided questions to discuss how the concept relates to the child, family routines, and current programming.Identify strategies to try, practice skills, address barriers, and plan for use between sessions.
The goal is simple: learn together, discuss together, and apply strategies in real life.
Yes. SOV can be used for both virtual and in-person BCBA caregiver-training sessions. For telehealth, BCBAs can share the curriculum and videos on screen, then facilitate guided discussion remotely. For in-person sessions, the BCBA and caregiver can view the materials together and move into discussion, activities, practice, and application in the natural environment.
SOV gives BCBAs a ready-to-use caregiver training curriculum, so they do not need to develop educational content, activities, or discussion prompts for every session.Choose a learning unit based on the family’s current needs, use the video and guided materials during the session, and focus your time on clinical application, problem-solving, and collaboration with the caregiver.
